The central government is planning to deliver Gangajal at your home with the help of India Post. Very soon, you will be able to avail clean, holy water for your religious customs.
Holy River
Ganga or Ganges is considered a holy river in India, and by delivering its water sachets and bottles directly to your home, the government is aiming to help you in performing traditional rituals.
The scheme, which has been proposed by union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, will deploy the vast network and efficient services of Indian Postal Department to deliver the holy water across the country.
Under the scheme, the water will be sourced from Haridwar and Rishikesh, the two places the river Ganga is in its purest and cleanest form. According to the English daily, The Times Of India, the minister told reporters at a meet that the work on this project would begin very soon.
Ganga Water Charges
In addition to this, Ravi Shankar Prasad, who also looks into postal affairs, hinted that in coming months, the post offices may house kiosk machines, selling pure Gangajal at nominal charges.
If sources are to be believed sources, this is a reply from the government to e-Commerce companies listing and selling expensive Ganga water on their websites. However, as per the explanations of Mr. Prasad, it is a move to increase the reputation and revenue of the Indian Postal Department.
