Hacker#1 Jeremy Hammond
A hacker who broke the secret code of an American publisher and global intelligence company, Stratfor and published 973 of their emails on the WikiLeaks website which also included important information about Osama bin Laden’s death. Not only this, he is also known to have stolen around 60,000 credit card numbers to do charity work. He was sentenced for 10 years in prison. Quite an innocent hacker he is !
Hacker#2 Kevin Poulsen
This is a perfect example of saying that negative publicity is the best publicity. After gaining public attention by hacking into the phone lines and winning a Porsche 944 S2 from KIIS-FM, along with violating the security codes of FBI computers, Kevin Poulsen is now a news editor for a popular site- wired.com. After serving 5 years in prison for his crime, he has also authored the novel, kingpin.
Hacker#3 Jonathan James
Exposure to technology early in life can sometimes prove to be harmful. Here is a perfect example of this statement. He was just 15 when he started his journey as a hacker and cracked the security codes of the Defence Threat Reduction Agency. Again his name was associated for hacking into the security of TJX department store. Unable to face the repercussions of his act, he committed suicide on 18 May 2008.
Hacker#4 The Aurora Hackers
Major web portals such as Google and Yahoo have also been targeted by hackers. Reportedly, a group of hackers from Beijing known to be- Elderwood Gang and also a Shanghai-based group, PLA Unit-61398, were after the source code of these internet giants. This complex hacking in 2009 was termed as operation Aurora, which aimed at 34 companies. Google and Yahoo were also in the list.
Still free and actively hacking, these hackers are under police radar. These negative developments forced Google to withdraw from China entirely.

He invented a computer virus ‘Morris Worm‘ and destroyed nearly 6,000 computers, which he released while studying at Cornell in 1988. He was charged under the computer fraud and abuse act, and was fined and made to do community service as part of punishment.
