The first and the current chief minister of Telangana, and the president of regional party Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao and popularly known as KCR will turn into a coolie for two days to raise funds for party plenary. Not just this, he has also made mandatory for his every party member to participate in “Gulaabi Cooli Dinalu” or “Pink Labourer Days” and spend two days working as coolie from April 14 to April 20, in order to attend the event. The funds raised during this week will be used to meet the expenses of transportation and food among others. “We have collected nearly 35 crore rupees in membership fee and that is reaching our party bank account,” the Chief Minister revealed.
TRS party’s plenary is scheduled on 21 April at Kompally, Hyderabad and the party’s massive public meet coincides with it’s formation day that falls on 27 April. It will be held in Warangal. Speculations are rife this his son K. T. Rama Rao, who is a legislator from Sircilla, Karimnagar district, Telangana and is the cabinet minister for IT, Municipal Administration & Urban Development Departments can take over the TRS president post from his father.
KCR also announced to increase the quota for minorities in his state, like it was done by Tamil Nadu and if the Centre does not respond positively, he will move to apex court. “Nearly 90% of Telangana’s population belongs to SC, ST and OBC categories. Tamil Nadu government increased the reservation according to their population. The Parliament accepted their proposal. Telangana too will do the same,” KCR said.
