Narendra Modi government has granted Z-Plus security cover to Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, the move that comes in the wake of threat perception from insurgents and militants as per the report of Intelligence Bureau. Under the Z-plus cover, 36 personnel including 10 + National Security Guards (NSG) and police officers will guard the Chief Minister. 25-28 commandos with advanced weapons will stay with him for 24 hours and he will also be given a pilot and escort vehicles armed with jammers.
Amongst the 4 categories of security cover, Z + is the highest and X is the lowest level. As Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur, he was earlier given Y category security cover, in which he was accompanied by about 2-3 commandos when he travelled. But now having taken oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on March 19, Adityanath will be enjoying the advantages of highest security cover which is given to Ministers of cabinet rank, chief ministers and judges of Supreme Court.
While a person under Z-plus security is entitled to have 36 commandos, people under the Z category are to have 22 commandos, under Y category they get 11 commandos and under X they get 5 or 2 commandos.
