The greatest television saga of the ongoing era, “Game of Thrones” has triumphantly sealed 23 nominations in prestigious Emmy Awards to be distributed in 2016. The nominations were announced yesterday, and this was when we came to know that this fantasy drama is just one nod ahead from the epic “People v OJ Simpson”. Unluckily, last year’s top winner “Veep” received only 17 nominations this time. Interestingly, Game of Thrones had received only 12 trophies last year.
The categories, in which the HBO drama GoT has nominations, include Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actress in a Drama, (2 nominations in) Supporting Actor in a Drama, (3 nominations in) Supporting Actress in a Drama, Guest Actor in a Drama, Writing for Drama, and (2 nominations for) Directing a Drama.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama, which is an adoption of Novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire”, which was originally written by George R. R. Martin. The first produce of the novel series was named “A Game of Thrones”, after which the concurrently flourishing TV series gets its name. However, the series, where it is now, is not actually very close to the storyline of the novel. Directed by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, the GoT series has given HBO the largest viewership across the world till date.
